ENGIE completed a 2.5 MW solar project for Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative in Herlong, CA in November 2018. This project brought immediate benefits to Plumas-Sierra’s members during the November 2018 California wildfires, which destroyed the main feeder line from Pacific Gas & Electric to Plumas-Sierra. Plumas-Sierra has secondary feeders, but they are limited in capacity. Through careful rebalancing, Plumas-Sierra is able to use the power from this system to compensate for the lost feeder from PG&E. Without this solar system, PSREC members would have faced rolling blackouts in their homes and businesses as demand was cut to meet supply.
